My Best Friend’s Exorcism Review

This past fall I recently read “My Best Friend’s Exorcism” by Grady Hendrix and it’s a thrilling and suspenseful horror novel that tells the story of high school friends Abby and Gretchen, who must confront a demonic presence that has taken over Gretchen’s body.

The story follows two best friends, Abby and Gretchen, as they navigate the challenges of high school and the horrors of possession. As Abby becomes increasingly erratic and detached, Gretchen begins to suspect that her friend may be possessed by a demon. Along with a group of misfits, they set out to perform an exorcism and save Abby’s soul.

One of the things I appreciated most about this book was the authentic portrayal of the friendships between the characters. The bond between Abby and Gretchen is heartwarming and their commitment to each other is admirable. The two characters have a deep bond that is tested when Gretchen becomes possessed, and the novel explores the lengths that Abby will go to in order to save her friend. The other characters, including the group of outcasts they team up with, are equally well-developed and add depth to the story.

The horror elements of the novel are well-done, with just the right amount of spookiness and gore. The portrayal of possession and exorcism is also well-researched and adds an extra layer of believability to the story.

Overall, “My Best Friend’s Exorcism” is a must-read for fans of horror and supernatural fiction. It is a compelling and frightening tale that is sure to keep readers on the edge of their seats. A fast-paced, thrilling read that is sure to appeal to fans of horror and coming-of-age novels alike. I highly recommend it.
